Join us for a spectacular concert of music with Beauty in Sound organist Richard McVeigh on the war memorial organ.
Richard has attracted an incredible following on YouTube (with over 100K subscribers) and is well-known for the success of his Beauty in Sound initiative in which he performs a great variety of music (including his own transcriptions and film music) on a number of famous organs and his own impressive Hauptwerk instrument. His channel also often features guest musicians and other educational content/behind the scenes features. Richard is also Assistant Organist at Arundel Cathedral and Assistant Director of Music at Romsey Abbey.
We're delighted he will be joining us to celebrate the organ's centenary this year.

The Committee of the Old Southendian Organ Society wishes to inform you that we will host an online update on Wednesday 29th April 2020, starting at 7:45pm. Arrangements for our formal Annual General Meeting are deferred until further notice, in line with guidance from the Charity Commission of England and Wales and the Government. However, the online update will cover the same set of reports from Committee members on the Society's activities, operations and finances, and offer an opportunity to ask questions of the Committee.

We are delighted to have Richard Brasier perform our first online concert for us this Christmas.
A festive programme of music from across the repertoire, with Buxtehude, Reger, Messiaen, and more awaits our virtual audience!
Richard is "one of Europe's finest young organists" (Rheinische Post) and enjoys a busy and far-reaching international career as a soloist, teacher, chamber musician, accompanist, animateur, editor and recording artist.
This concert was pre-recorded at Southend High School for Boys, and may be watched on our videos page. Donations to support the ongoing work of the society warmly welcomed.

Acclaimed organist Jeremy Blandford returns to the school to give a recital on the War Memorial Organ.
To include music by Bach, Mozart, Elgar, Whitlock, and Reubke.
The evening will also offer the exclusive chance to see the organ up close, including a look inside the organ chamber to see the 1228 pipes and mechanisms that make the instrument sing!
The recital will take full advantage of the rebuilt organ's increased resources, and Jeremy's award-winning skill - a Royal College of Organists Exhibition led Jeremy from school in Southend to Cambridge, where he was Organ Scholar at Clare College and read an honours degree in music. Since then, positions in church music and education have taken him from Southampton to Norway, where he now lives. His skills as an organist, harpsichordist and accompanist have taken him across the world, with organ recitals in the U.S.A. and throughout Europe, and broadcasts on radio and television. We are delighted to be welcoming Jeremy back to Southend in July.

Internationally acclaimed as a choral director, conductor and with a wealth of experience as a virtuosic organist, Adrian's fun, engaging and enlightening performance and demonstration promises to show off the full potential of the refurbished instrument.

The Old Southendian Arts Club presents an evening of collaboration and celebration.
A light hearted evening’s entertainment showcasing the talent of some of the School’s artistically gifted former pupils, many of whom have gone on to have careers within the Arts Industry.
The first of its kind, this OSAC Showcase will be bursting with energy and impressive performances; ranging from Big Band music to Sketch Comedy to Organ Music.
From OSOS, there will be performances from Christopher Burt, Joe Zammit, Ashley Thompson and George Smith, with theatre-style entertainment music provided on the organ by Gerald Usher in the interval.
With something for everyone this relaxed and enjoyable evening on Sunday 7th September 2014 is not to be missed.
All proceeds from the evening will go towards fitting out the new Art studios at the School.

The internationally acclaimed organist, Adrian Lucas (Tuscany, 1972 - 1979), will be returning to SHSB to perform on its iconic 91 year old organ and also meet some of the school's young musicians this October.
Having held the post of Organist and Master of the Music at the cathedrals of Norwich, Portsmouth and, finally, Worcester, where he directed the Three Choirs Festivals and the City of Birmingham Choir, Adrian is now a much sought after organ recitalist, consultant and composer/arranger, freelance musician, conductor, and broadcaster.
As President of the newly-formed Old Southendian Organ Society, Adrian is keen to help raise awareness of this finely crafted instrument to a wider public.
A performance by Adrian Lucas is no mere organ recital: his eclectic versatility across an astonishingly wide range of musical styles, all delivered with dazzling virtuosity, makes it a rewarding and entertaining evening which will linger in the memory.
